混凝土裝入車內以后，要求在2h或更短的時間內卸到工作面上，在此期間須不停地攪拌；如果在規定時間內不能運到工地或因各種原因停止攪拌，車內混凝土就會報廢，嚴重的會導致混凝土凝固在車內，造成攪拌運輸車報廢。這對攪拌運輸車的可靠性提出了嚴格的要求，絕對不允許攪拌運輸車在工作時發生停機的故障，因此全自動混凝土攪拌車選型首先要考慮的就是車輛須十分可靠，關鍵部位如發動機和傳動驅動裝置發生故障的可能性要越低越好。
